Winter Olympics
The Modern Olympic history is very interesting. A while back, Greece cancelled the games. Not until 1894 a Frenchman named, Baron Pierre de Coubertin, decided to bring it back, in order to create peace with other nations. Ice Hockey is the winter sport that interests many. Ice Hockey is important to the Olympic Games because Modern Olympics are enjoyable because many countries participate and because numerous people find ice hockey exciting.
First, the events in the Modern Winter Olympics are very similar to the games that the world has today. Furthermore, there were awards handed out to the winners of the games. In the first few modern games, a Silver Medal was given to the winner, it was not until 1908 in London were the Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals were given (Rpb). In fact, the first games were held in Athens, Greece. They decided this because they wanted to honor the original place of the first Ancient Games (ISL Consulting Co). To name a few of the Winter Olympic Games, the Skeleton, Ice Hockey, many skating events, Curling, Snowboarding, and Skiing. These games are separated into categories such as: Ice Sports, Alpine, Skiing and Snowboarding Events, and Nordic Events (Rpb). The Modern Olympics were very interesting, but one game really stands out from the rest-Ice Hockey.

Second, Ice Hockey is one of the most enjoyable games to watch. For instance, many people believe that hockey is a very exciting game to watch. The reason is because hockey is one of the most fast paced and hard hitting games there is (Griffin). In other words, there are many top performers on the USA Olympic Hockey Team. To list a few, on the forward line: Patrick Kane from the Chicago Blackhawks, on the defensive line: Erik Johnson from the Colorado Avalanche, and the goalie: Ryan Miller from the Buffalo Sabres. Those players are the best because they work hard, they are a good team player, and they are amazing leaders ("2010 Olympic Hockey: Team USA"). To be specific, Canada and Soviet Union are the predicted winners. Combined they have both won 14 games out of the 19 tournament games (Griffin). Ice Hockey is an amazing game, which almost everyone has a part in.

In conclusion, there are many fascinating games in the Olympics because the Modern Olympics are very pleasant to watch, because Ice Hockey plays a major part in shaping the Olympics, because many countries contribute to the games, and because many people like to play the game. Everyone enjoys Ice Hockey in many different ways, some like it because it’s a fast paced game, the hard hitting, or the grueling fights. Ice Hockey is truly a game that will go down in history.
